Kyrie Irving

According to reports, Kyrie Irving will be staying with the Brooklyn Nets shortly. Irving could be an unrestricted free agent this summer. If Irving declines his $36million player option for 2022-23, that would be a possibility.

Irving declined his player option, but he stated that he would be resigning from the Nets in the summer. He wants to be a teammate with Kevin Durant, so he’s so keen to stay in Brooklyn. Irving spoke to reporters this Saturday while discussing his plans with the Nets.

Irving hopes to build a lasting legacy in Brooklyn with Durant. Irving has averaged 27.3 points per game and 6.0 assists since joining the Nets in 2019. He has been exceptional this season, despite missing most home games because of safety and health mandates.

The Nets now have Ben Simmons in their fold and the pieces necessary to be a contender for many years. Irving should sign a long-term contract.
