NASCAR announced on Tuesday that BJ McLeod’s crew chief Lee Leslie and two other crewmen had been banned for the upcoming four cup series. McLeod’s No. 78 Ford had a right-rear wheel detach from the car at Talladega Superspeedway on Lap 87, delivering the vehicle for a swirl at Turn 2 just after a restart. Also sidelined as part of the punishment are jackman Alpha Lamin and tire changer Kevin Team.
According to the NASCAR rulebook in section 10.5.2.6, the Loss of a wheel is illegal behavior. Those who did this activity are the culprit who gets punished for four Race suspensions of the crew chief and two additional team members.

The punishment for McLeod’s team members took off through the May 22 All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway. Live fast motorsports became the sixth team in which action 10.5.2.6 took place—Kaz Grala and Justin Haley both forfeited wheels in the Daytona 500. Todd Gilliland endured a similar objective at Auto Club Speedway a week later before Corey LaJoie missed one at Phoenix.
